Tax Codes
Tax Codes are used to define the values of Sales Tax to be applied to vending sales.
The following fields are used to define Tax Codes:
Code
A short code for the Tax Code referring to the State or County or City taxing region.
Active
Inactive Tax Codes will not be available from selection lists.
Description
The full name of the tax region.
Tax Rates grid
The tax rates grid is the list of rates for each Product Group defined in the data base. The grid provides for additional data to modify the rate data applied to sales. The rate data is defined as follows:
Tax Rate
The percentage rates of sales tax inferred from the sale. Enter the value as a percentage eg enter 6.5% as 6.500.
Threshold
This is the dollar value at which sales tax starts to be levied on an individual sale. So if tax is not applicable to sales less than 75c then enter a value of 0.7500 as the threshold
Deposit
This is the value of Bottle Deposits than may applied to the Products in the product Groups as listed out line by line in the grid. Some Tax authorities provide that bottle deposits are not taxable. If the deposit is 5c then enter the value as 0.05. It is expected that all the products in a Product Group will either have a deposit or not have a deposit, and if they do then they all have the same deposit value.
Deposit Taxed
Check the box if the Deposit is actually taxable.
Effective Date
The date that the sales tax rate was effective from .
