If you are unfamiliar with the general handling of data maintenance forms then first review the Data Maintenance topic.

Regions

A Region can refer to a geographic area, but more specifically one that relates to an element of the Company's structure eg a Sales Region or an area of operational control such as a Division.

VendSys is multi-regional, so more than one Region can be used in the system.

Region can be used a security parameter and access to all data in the system can be controlled by Region if desired. Consult VendSys Support regarding establishing security profiles based on Regional access

Region is used to group Accounts and Warehouses.

The following fields are used to redefine a Region

Description

The name of the Region. Each Region Description must be unique.

Timezone

Timezone is used to set correct local times of Remote Monitored DEX readers. It is possible to establish Remote Monitoring for a Company across TimesZones, but in all cases you will want the Sales data reported back in the local time of the machine rather than the time zone of the server supporting your database. In all cases set the TimeZone to that of the Region you are establishing.

Account Prefix

Account Numbers can be auto-generated when adding a new Account. If using this feature the Account numbers will be generated as a 6 character code, with the first characters set as this Account Prefix eg if the Region is "New York", you can set the Prefix as "NY". The first Account auto-generated will have the Account Number NY0001, the next NY0002 and so on.

Note that the numeric component is derived from internal identifiers and if Accounts are added manually then the sequencing will not be consecutive.

Active

Regions not longer in use can be inactivated. Inactive Regions will not appear in selection lists.
